Picture This: Photographer's Images Capture Life In Dutchess

From the crowded midday public sidewalk to the vintage-style intimate balcony seating of an acoustic music set, Jared Tennant of Poughkeepsie has seen it all - and from behind the lens of his camera.

Tennant, a self-described street and portrait photographer, makes frequent trips to Dutchess to take snapshots of residents in their everyday routines.

Scrolling through his Squarespace and Instagram portfolios, you’ll find a sense of poignancy and wondrous simplicity in each shot: a passenger listening to music in headphones on the subway, a motorcycle rider stopped at a traffic-ridden intersection, a duo of friends sitting on a stoop and engrossed in evening conversation.

Tennant’s Instagram page has garnered more than 500 followers, and his Squarespace hosts a neatly-organized display of his best shots.

“My primary goal as a photographer is to create real, tangible photographs that live and breathe on their own,” Tennant writes on the “About” section of his Squarespace. “I love what I do and I want to give quality pictures to remember in a digital, instant world.”
